Faridabad(standard news/ manoj bhardwaj)…Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Faridabad Branch Officers conducted a raid today on 12 Jan. 2017 with the help of police from Haryana Police at the premises of M/s Abhay Enterprises, Plot No. 89-90, Gurugram Road, Behind Krishna Paramdham Mandir, Badkhal – Faridabad as directed by Head of the BIS, Faridabad Branch Office Shri Sunil Kumar. As informed during the raid, the name of the owner of the firm is Shri Rajeev Chauhan. The above raid was conducted by a team under the leadership of Shri A.K. Popli, Scientist C. Other members of the team were Shri Amarjit Singh, Scientist C, Shri Wasim Akram, Scientist B from BIS Faridabad and the officers of Haryana Police, Badkhal, Faridabad. During the search & seizure operation, 10 jars of 20 litre with ISI mark and brand name ‘Aqualite’ were available in the premises of the firm. Also, a large number of cap sleeve seals approx. 20000 with ISI mark and brand name ‘Aqualite’ were available in the premises. All these materials have been sealed by the team. It was observed that firm was manufacturing the Packaged Drinking Water with ISI mark without valid BIS licence which is illegal. The action is being initiated against the owner of the firm under BIS Act, 1986. The penalty for this type of offence is one year imprisonment or Rs. 50,000/- or both. The use of BIS Standard Mark on Packaged drinking water is mandatory under the FSSAI Regulations, 2011.It is informed by the BIS spokesperson that the action shall be taken against the manufacturers, sellers and stockists who are using ISI mark on Packaged Drinking Water Product without valid BIS licence. Other manufacturers who are selling and storing the products with duplicate BIS Standard mark without BIS licence shall also be raided and there is a plan of such raids in the jurisdiction of Faridabad Branch Office of BIS. It is appealed to the general public to give information regarding any misuse of ISI mark noticed at the following address:
